About Mayari Mind

From HR → OT → Mother → Entrepreneur
My story is one of reinvention—and resilience.
I didn’t start my career in healthcare. I began in human resources, but over time, I felt a pull toward something more meaningful. I wanted to be of service in a deeper way. That calling led me to retrain as an occupational therapist—a leap I made while raising two toddlers and managing a household.
Those were intense years.
Most nights, I’d collapse into bed (or sometimes the foetal position on the floor!)—exhausted from juggling coursework, placements, parenting, and a home life that never slowed down. I remember clinical placements that stretched me in every direction: hospitals, mental health services, community outreach. Once, I accidentally nearly set myself on fire making a splint during a hospital rotation. That moment—equal parts terrifying and hilarious—feels like the perfect metaphor for those early days: chaotic, challenging, and deeply formative.
During that time, I also faced personal transitions that shook me to my core. I lost my father. I faced the complexities of marriage and motherhood. These experiences didn’t break me—but they did reshape me. They taught me firsthand what many women already know: transitions can be incredibly hard—and also profoundly transformative.
My own resilience is rooted in the example set by my mother. She immigrated from the Philippines to Australia, not knowing anyone here, and built a life through courage, determination, and faith. I’ve always admired her strength—it takes guts to start over in a new country. Much of my compassion, empathy, and strength of character comes from her influence and the values she passed down.
Why I Created Mayari Mind
Since becoming an OT, I’ve worked across a broad range of settings—hospitals, government mental health programs, occupational rehab, private practice with high-needs disability, and paediatrics. I’ve been privileged to help people navigate their own life challenges, and it’s a role I consider sacred.
But now, I’m taking a new path. One that reflects my own story, my passion for mental health, and my desire to support women like you—women navigating change, rediscovery, and renewal.
Mayari Mind is a space for empowerment and growth—where you can pause, reflect, and begin again stronger, clearer, and more connected to yourself.

Mayari Mind is dedicated to my mother, and to all the strong women in my family line — my cousin Gina, who is like a sister to me, and my Nana Joan. Each of them embodies courage, compassion, and quiet strength in their own way.
Their stories of perseverance and love are the roots from which Mayari Mind was born. I do this work to honour them—and to inspire the next generation, my daughters, to grow up strong, grounded, and resilient.
